My Martini

Using the words of Sir Kingsley Amis, “the best martini known to man is the one I make myself for myself”.

In the cold part of the freezer I have three things: a bottle of Plymouth gin, some martini glasses that have been allowed to freeze and some frozen lemon peels. “When the hour strikes”, I wash some ice cubes with Noilly Prat dry vermouth, stir the gin, and fill the – still frozen – glass, garnishing with the lemon peel (or with a couple of cocktail onions).
